ACJ Wales

Well, what a momentous day yesterday was.......

Just over 18 months ago I was approached by the Board of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery to join their Regional Advisor Panel representing Welsh jewellers & makers early on in their careers in contemporary jewellery. I was thrilled to have been asked aswell as more than a little humbled! I find that I'm not alone in being just a tad OCD when it comes to contemporary jewellery when I'm around fellow panel & Board members, very reassuring!

It has been an interesting journey, as it should be, to get to where we arrived at yesterday - our very 1st AGM. Now, I'm not big on officialdom, more into getting people together to support each other, but it was to be celebrated nonetheless. It all feels very grown up, we even have our own committee now, oh yes we do!

I would like to thank my fellow welsh jewellers for stepping up to the plate to share the workload now & volunteering their services for roles on the committee. Usually the point in meetings when everyone mysteriously stares at the floor! Specifically Anne Morgan who put herself forward as Chair, Mandy Nash for volunteering as Treasurer (I feel we're in very safe hands with all Mandy's experience of committees) & Clare Collinson for taking on the un-enviable role (I know, it's been me so far!) of organising everyone's diaries, brave lady!

And, I can't have made too bad a job of it so far as all present asked me to stay on another 3 years in my role as Regional Advisor. I am also continuing in my role as Marketing Bod (they all laughed at this, but I'm really not a 'supervisor' or 'officer' kind of girl).

So, here's to lots of shared exhibitions, networking events, masterclasses & workshops aswell as the odd social for good measure.
